Love People, Not Evangelism
How does the love of evangelism differ from the love of people? Because evangelism is a means by which we love people. In this evangelism story, Jeremy shares about his evangelism efforts with his young friend, Shane. Even though we may be faithful in evangelism, we may not always see its fruit. Still we can trust that God is just, all wise, and good.

Love, Not Knowledge
Knowledge is often a hinderance to understanding the gospel. Still, God graciously puts evangelists in people’s paths so that those who are considered wise by the world may be saved. Hear the story of two college students who went from being classmates to brothers in Christ.

More Than A Fairy Tale
Do language barriers preclude the spread of the gospel? Apparently not! In this evangelism story, we see that God brings two people from separate worlds together so that one may be saved; a former atheist leads another atheist to Christ despite cultural challenges. God’s Word, regardless of what language it is in, can lead any soul to joyful surrender as it proves to be more than a fairy tale.

Two Marriages
In this evangelism story, hear of God’s grace extended to Bill and Claudia as they share how they became one not only with each other, but first and foremost with Christ. This story testifies to how God employs even the clumsiest of evangelists for the sake of his glory and kingdom — even to reach those who are falsely assured.

The Gospel by Numbers
In a message entitled “The Gospel by Numbers,” Ligon Duncan lifts up the sacrificial work of our savior Jesus Christ. Because the sinless, undefiled Son of God went outside the camp, because He bore the reproach of those who would believe, Christians are made clean. Standing on the mountain of this glorious truth, breathing in its crystal clear air, Duncan then asks: “Don’t we want to tell people about this Man — the only one who can do something about their sin?”

The Open Door is the Only Door: The Singularity of the Gospel in a Pluralistic Age
Many want a Savior; some even recognize their need for one. However, once the abstract becomes concrete, once the general becomes specific, once the “any Savior” becomes an “only Savior,” Christianity loses any and all worldly luster. Nonetheless, Al Mohler asserts this exclusivity, while widely detested, must be upheld with courage and conviction, especially in the coming years: “The open door is the only door,” he says, “and the only door is the open door.”

The Certain Victory of Christ’s Church an Encouragement to Evangelism
Mark Dever begins the conference with a flyover of Isaiah 36 and 37. This moment in Israel’s history — from the edge of Assyrian destruction to the gracious deliverance of Yahweh — invites Christians today to reflect on God’s own faithfulness to His word, for the joy of his people and the vindication of His promises. Because of this, we know there’s no such thing as failed evangelism. Christ is building — and will continue to build — His church.

Relenting Wrath: The Role of Desperate Prayer in the Mystery of Divine Providence
David Platt preaches from Exodus 32 on the unchanging perfections, purposes, and promises of God — all of which make up His ever-unfolding plan. From the text, it’s clear what Moses knows and confesses about God affects the way he prayed. Therefore, the doctrine of divine providence is not an excuse for laziness in prayer but rather the primary catalyst for a pursuit of prayer rightly understood. In Platt’s words, God wills to work through willing intercessors, who plead for God’s glory to fill the earth.

Persuading, Pleading and Predestination: Human Means in the Miracle of Conversion
Why is Romans 9 in the Bible? More specifically, why do its seemingly hard truths — “Jacob I loved; Esau I hated” — immediately follow the riches of Romans 8 — “nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”? John Piper gives an answer to these honest questions in his description of unconditional election. Far from something that hinders evangelism in the heart of the apostle Paul, we find this doctrine impels him to plead and persuade all those who are not-yet saved. So it should for us.

Never Spoke a Man Like This Before: Inerrancy, Evangelism and Christ’s Unbreakable Bible
In this sermon, primarily from the Gospel of John, Kevin DeYoung argues that Scripture’s inerrancy, authority, and sufficiency provides a foundation for both the truth of the gospel and our confidence in evangelism. Christians believe this not because of a modern, man-made ideal of “inerrancy,” but because Jesus himself thought and taught this way. As DeYoung said, “It’s impossible to uphold the Bible more than Jesus did.”

The Happiness of Heaven in the Repentance of Sinners
Thabiti Anyabwile gives a sermon from Luke 15 where Jesus tells three parables about the joy in finding something that was lost: a coin, a sheep, a son. Something similar happens in heaven when a sinner repents of their sin and trusts in Christ, when a sheep returns to the Good Shepherd. This heavenly happiness is eternal and unmitigated. So as we evangelize, calling for Spirit-wrought repentance, we understand this call to true repentance is a call to true joy.

Christ is All
Matt Chandler preaches from 2 Timothy 1:8-14, describing how our motivation to evangelize should be God-centered, not man-centered. A preoccupation with the potential persecution of others will paralyze our evangelism, whereas a preoccupation with God will propel our desire to see those for whom Christ died believe. Pastors in particular must lead the way in this, Chandler says, for being a “beast in the pulpit” and scared to death outside it provides an awful example to the church.
